Street Outreach Team
Established in 2000 as a result of concerns expressed by downtown Burlington merchants, the Burlington Police Deparment, and area service providers, the Street Outreach Team works with individuals in the downtown Burlington Business District. The Team assists those with mental health, substance abuse, homelessness, and unmet social service needs and coordinates services for those individuals. The primary goal of the team is to increase access to services for all individuals. The secondary goal is to prevent disruptive behavior by the target population. The Team works closely with service providers, police, and merchants to address behaviors that may have a significant impact on the downtown area.
