SUCCEED is an innovative post-secondary education program for students with intellectual disabilities and autism, provided by Howard Center in collaboration with area colleges. Students have the opportunity to participate in four program areas:
- Student Housing
- Campus Life
- Career Development
SUCCEED provides students with the tools to live more independently while actively participating in a true college experience. Students graduate with the ability to live in their own apartment, develop meaningful friendships, obtain fulfilling employment and establish social connections within their community.
The parents of one SUCCEED student say:
We have witnessed firsthand the incredible assistance that Howard Center has provided our younger son, who is on the Autism Spectrum. Thanks to the support of this organization, for the past two years he has been able to successfully live in Burlington, work toward some of his goals, and develop an independent lifestyle; one that he could not have had otherwise. He has been supported with a home care provider and is now part of the SUCCEED program, living with several other young adults who need social and life skills support.
To provide students with a comprehensive college experience that prepares them for a future of success, creativity and contribution to their community.
Our Guiding Philosophy:
Students learn best when actively making their own decisions about their goals, services, lifestyle choices and relationships. Students have the right to take risks and the opportunity to accept responsibility for their own actions.
